With the National Association of Filipino Off-Roaders (NASFOR) kicking off the 2014 season of its extreme racing series this coming weekend, Taiwanese tiremaker Maxxis has signed up to be the title sponsor of the grueling 12-leg Maxxis 4x4 Cup.

The signing agreement took place earlier today between Ronald Ang, chief operating officer of North Trend Marketing, the official distributor of Maxxis tires in the Philippines, and NASFOR president Mon To-ong.

According to Ang, the Maxxis brand started out as a minor sponsor of NASFOR about 10 years ago. Seeing how the series was run professionally, North Trend Marketing decided to push Maxxis as a major sponsor five years ago.

\"There are not that many sports that test the durability of tires like 4x4 racing does,\" shared Ang. \"And we believe that the best way to promote Maxxis tires is through a racing series that does exactly that.\"

While much of the 2014 Maxxis 4x4 Cup schedule will take place in the Visayas and Mindanao, four legs will be held in Luzon. December will also see the staging of the Philippine Tough Truck Challenge.
