Top Gear Philippines Philippine Car News - Nissan GT Academy PH to be launched on March 25

In January, Nissan Philippines president Antonio Zara revealed his company's plan to introduce the Nissan GT Academy to our market. Nearly two months after he made that announcement, Zara has officially confirmed that the Japanese carmaker's virtual motorsport program is indeed coming to the Philippines on March 25.

Since its inception in 2008, the Nissan GT Academy has defied motorsports tradition by tapping the best players of Sony PlayStation's Gran Turismo racing video games and turning them into professional race car drivers in a matter of months. Lucas Ordoñez, the very first winner of the GT Academy, has already raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the past four years and in the Japanese Super GT series for the past two. For 2015, Ordoñez will be driving the GT-R LM Nismo at Le Mans, while he has been bumped up to the premier GT500 category for the Super GT series.

Nissan Philippines is still keeping under wraps the specific details of the GT Academy Philippines. We'll keep you updated once we know more from the carmaker.
