The recently concluded Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia is something to forget if you’re Valtteri Bottas. And, being Valtteri, what better way to clear your mind than to ride your bike for over 350km to the next race weekend? Sounds perfect.
After an early retirement in Lap 9 of the race, Valtteri traded his Cadillac MAC-26 for a Canyon Grail CFR. This bike has been his tool of choice for coffee rides, gravel races, and apparently, cross-country commuting to work. Of course, this isn’t just a leisurely ride. Formula 1 drivers need to stay on top of their fitness. But something tells us this multi-day workout session puts a smile on Valtteri’s face like no other.

According to Valtteri’s Strava activities, he logged 56.6km on the first day and 161.9km on his second. It will probably take him another two days to reach Singapore—just in time to rest before heading into Practice Sessions.

The route Valtteri has chosen cuts through provincial streets and gravel roads; he calls it “the path less traveled.” And just like any cyclist, Valtteri knows the best refuelling strategy is to eat from local restaurants (known to us as karinderya) along the way.

With his multi-day ride still underway, we wish him safe travels and more good food and coffee. The Singapore Grand Prix weekend is from October 9 to 11, with the race scheduled at 8pm on Sunday.
