A couple of days ago, those watching the Japanese Grand Prix were shocked to learn about the horrific crash of Marussia F1 driver Jules Bianchi. Unfortunately, the official race coverage didn't have any video footage of the actual accident.
Well, one race attendee apparently caught the crash on camera, and to call it "horrific" is actually an understatement.
In the video, the Sauber C33 of Adrian Sutil had already been lifted and was being carried by the recovery vehicle when Bianchi in his Marussia MR03 suddenly struck the back of the tractor like a cruise missile coming out of nowhere, raising the rear wheels of the aforementioned recovery vehicle a few feet of the ground. The crash sent the Sauber C33 back on the ground, while the rear of the tractor practically sheared off the airbox and engine cover of the Marussia MR03.
If you have the stomach for it--and if Formula One Management hasn’t moved to take it off YouTube yet--watch the video below.
Let’s hope that, despite the severity of the accident, Bianchi will recover from his injuries.
