Just how grand is it nowadays?

Suzuki freshens up the Grand Vitara's look with subtle exterior changes to match the more contemporary taste of the market.

The facelift was conservatively done with a sportier front grille and a bumper bearing a larger lower cut-out for the radiator, making the compact sport-utility vehicle (SUV) look much bigger than it really is. The five-spoke 17-inch alloy rims and 65-series tires also hint at the Suzuki Grand Vitara's athleticism on tarmac.

Beyond the changes, everything else about the Suzuki Grand Vitara stays the same--from the body on-ladder frame chassis that help make it a competent off-roader to the spacious cabin with the black interior complemented by the brushed aluminum trim to the automatic climate control system and the 40/60 split-folding rear bench seat that makes for some creative uses in cargo-stowing.

Powering the Suzuki Grand Vitara is a 2.4-liter, 16-valve double overhead cam straight four engine that puts out 164hp and 225Nm of torque. Helping control the horses is a four-speed automatic transmission that puts the power down to the Grand Vitara's rear wheels. To rein all that power in, ventilated front and rear disc brakes easily shed the Suzuki Grand Vitara's pace quickly while getting rid of unwanted heat from the rotors.

The Suzuki Grand Vitara sold in the Philippines is available in the following body colors: Silky Silver Metallic, Pearl White, and Bluish Black Pearl.
