Top Gear Philippines is now looking for a bigger trophy cabinet as members of the team were again recognized during the recent Henry Ford Awards (HFA).
Editor in chief Vernon B. Sarne bagged trophies for the best Ford feature story for his article "Back With A Vengeance" and the best automotive online feature "Brilliant Ideas For Improving Driving Safety And Courtesy."
Sarne, who is also a columnist of the Manila Times, also received the first-ever HFA Automotive Journalism Achievement Award.
"Vernon's contributions over the past 10 years to raising the level of automotive journalism in the Philippines have been significant," said Anika Salceda-Wycoco, assistant vice president for communications at Ford Group Philippines. "He constantly strives and has succeeded in growing his craft, his voice, his business and his team over the years."
Top Gear Philippines features editor Dinzo Tabamo also made the team proud with his article "A New Hope," which won the Fiesta Connect award.
The HFA has been recognizing efforts of journalists in keeping professionalism and developing talent and creativity in the motoring beat.
"We're proud of what the Henry Ford Awards has become in the Philippines over the past ten years, and what it means to the automotive media," said Ford Group Philippines president Randy Krieger. "We recognize the key role that automotive journalists play and their influence in helping shape and develop the industry."
