Making the most of what is now its bread-and-butter model, Toyota Motor Philippines has launched the Vios S, a sporty take on Toyota's subcompact sedan.
While the Vios S is packed by the same 1.5-liter VVT-i engine that powers its higher-end Vios stablemates, it stands out with its sporty amenities. Vios S comes with HID headlamps, 17" alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, and a special "S" badge.
The Vios S with automatic transmission sells for P805,000 while the variant equipped with manual transmission costs P770,000.
"The addition of this sporty variant is aimed to strengthen Toyota's lead in the passenger car segment, targeting younger customers who are looking for an edgier character in their vehicle at an affordable price with optimum fuel economy," said Raymond Rodriguez, Toyota Motor Philippines first vice president for vehicle sales.
Rodriguez said the Philippine-made Vios is currently the country's best selling vehicle as it sells an average of 900 units a month.
Toyota, the leading car company in the Philippines, sold a total of 17,080 units of passenger cars and commercial vehicles from January to May.
