Toyota Motor Philippines hopes to boost sales in its passenger car segment as it unveiled the latest addition to its sedan lineup with the launch of the 2.0-liter Altis.
The newest Altis promises power with a 16-valve four-cylinder DOHC engine that comes with the dual VVT-i technology. This technology, which used to be available only in the high-end Camry 3.5Q V6, allows variable timing both in the intake and exhaust valves.
Toyota said the dual VVT-i technology improved performance and balanced engine output, higher fuel efficiency and cleaner emissions, improved safety, and better control when shifting and steering.
The latest Altis also features a push-start engine switch found only in the Camry, Land Cruiser 200 and the Prius.
The Altis comes in six colors - Super White II, Silver Metallic, Medium Silver, Dark Gray Mica, Black Mica, and Beige Metallic.
It is available at P1.1 million in 28 authorized Toyota dealers nationwide.
Toyota introduced the Altis in January 2008. It sold 4,610 units of the 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter variants of the tenth generation Corolla in 2008.
The Japanese carmaker dominated the Philippine passenger car segment with a 41.2 percent market share representing 18,323 units sold in the country last year.
