See if your own car is among them

Toyota Fortuner

Yesterday, we attended a media seminar on non-life insurance organized by the Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association. A tie-up seminar with the Insurance Institute for Asia and the Pacific, "iReport: Getting to Know Insurance" gathered media practitioners and bloggers for a crash course on insurance and the insurance industry in the country.

There were two pieces of information that stood out for us during the seminar:

* First is that Manila has dethroned Quezon City as the carnapping capital of the Philippines; and

* Owners of 4x4 vehicles in general and the Toyota Fortuner in particular need to be extra cautious as these cars seem to be popular among car thieves.

So, if you own a Fortuner or any other 4x4 vehicle, and you happen to live in Manila City, you're advised to get a comprehensive insurance for your ride. Better secure than sorry.
