VinFast and GreenGSM’s RentaPasada program makes earning through ride-hailing easier

Lower barrier of entry, more predictable overheads, plus all the benefits of EVs

Getting into the TNVS industry can be challenging. The average Filipino needs to shell out the upfront cost to purchase a vehicle, worry about recurring costs for maintenance, then deal with the wildly fluctuating cost of fuel every week. VinFast Philippines and Green GSM want to address these concerns with the RentaPasada program by lowering the barrier to entry and making running costs more predictable.

Beyond making ride-hailing entrepreneurship more accessible, the RentaPasada program also provides a “practical pathway to sustainable income and eventual vehicle ownership.” The program is not a perpetual lease; it also provides drivers the option to purchase the vehicle down the line.

VinFast lowers the barrier of entry by charging a P5,000 registration payment. From there, aspiring drivers can immediately set out on the road and begin earning. The daily rental fees of P1,050 for the Herio Green or P1,350 for the Limo Green, plus the gradual deductions to pay off TNVS registration and associated deposits, are also designed by VinFast to make everyday overheads predictable.

RentaPasada drivers will still take home most of what they make on the road, with VinFast’s revenue-sharing model quoting 90% going to drivers in the first year, then 85% for the second and third years. As mentioned earlier, the program’s option to purchase the vehicle outright based on residual value presents a “genuine, long-term path from renter to owner.”

VinFast also cites the inherent advantages that come with its vehicles being fully electric. Thanks to the EVIDA law, the Herio Green and Limo Green are coding-exempt. In other words, RentaPasada program drivers don’t lose a potential day of income because of the number coding scheme.

In the medium- and long-term, ownership savings also add up. VinFast calculates that a full-time driver racking up 3,500km in a Herio Green in a single month sets aside P5,600 for charging expenses. A gas-powered crossover covering the same distance uses 238 liters of fuel, which is around P15,500. Stretching out this difference over two years, EV drivers can directly save over P237,000.

All in all, VinFast and Green GSM promise that the RentaPasada program will support Filipino drivers’ entrepreneurial spirit by lowering the barrier of entry.
