Internet, we have important news: Brand-new Top Gear America launches next year, hosted by Dax Shepard, Rob Corddry, and Jethro Bovingdon.
The series will launch exclusively on the MotorTrend App, bringing a fresh, American take on Top Gear direct to your eyeballs and ears. Our trio will scour the vast US landscape in search of adventure, competition, and...more than a little power-sliding.
All three will bring their own unique motoring histories to the new series, too. Actor, writer, director, and podcast host Dax Shepard—best known for CHIPS, Parenthood, and his podcast Armchair Expert—is currently the custodian of a ’67 Lincoln Continental as well as ’94 Buick Roadmaster and E63 wagons in his garage, alongside a host of on- and off-road bikes.
Emmy-award winning actor, producer, and comedian Rob Corddry—you’ve seen him on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Children’s Hospital, and Hot Tub Time Machine—learned how to drive in a blue Chevy Celebrity wagon, bought a ’75 Ford Pinto wagon with rusted floorboards for five dollars as his first car, and currently owns a Porsche 911 S and a Datsun 280Z.
Jethro Bovingdon is a British motoring journalist, who—alongside presenting for MotorTrend—has competed at the Nürburgring 24 hours three times, with a trio of class victories.
“We can’t wait to share their exhilarating adventures as they traverse American car culture with each new episode,” said MotorTrend Group’s Alex Wellen.
The new series launches in the spring of 2020. Stay tuned for more information.
