There are only a few models that really stand out in the world of adventure-touring motorcycles. Arguably the most popular bike in this upmarket segment is BMW Motorrad’s famed ADV: the R1250 GS.
In this episode of Top Gear Specials, we feature the BMW R1250 GSA Trophy, the creme de la creme among the German marque’s adventure bikes. It’s on its way out, seeing as BMW just released the next-generation 1300 GS, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that the current top dog in BMW Motorrad’s local lineup is still the bike to beat in our market as of this writing.

The R1250 GSA features a 1,250cc air- and liquid-cooled twin-cylinder boxer engine that generates 134hp and 143Nm of torque. This engine comes packaged with all the bells and whistles BMW Motorrad can fit into a motorcycle—this includes an advanced digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, adjustable suspension, switchable ABS, and multiple ride modes. The Adventure trim gets a bigger 30-liter fuel tank (10 liters up from the standard version), crash guards, and brackets for panniers and boxes at the rear.
