The Chevrolet Malibu is the American sedan executives deserve

Can it take on the Japanese?

American cars aren’t exactly known for their class or elegance--at least not here in the Philippines, where the brands have opted to focus on hot-selling segments like the midsize SUV, crossovers and pickup trucks. But there’s always an exception or two, and in this case the all-new Chevrolet Malibu is one of them.

The all-new Malibu was brought in back in April during the 2018 Manila International Auto Show, and the midsize sedan impressed us with its refreshing, aggressive looks and light, relatively premium interior. But would the impression last after a week behind the wheel?

The answer is yes, and we’d go as far as to say that the Malibu is the most worthy American sedan for executives available in the market. Everywhere we parked, bystanders would stop, stare, and ask. The cabin proved a very nice place to sit in, with comfortable leather seats, tons of features, and great quietness. And the 2.0-liter, 250hp and 353Nm turbocharged engine made for a great drive out on the highway.
