Dean & DeLuca is an international brand renowned for its elegant ambience and for offering premium coffee, artisanal pastries, gourmet sandwiches, pasta, and other delicatessen items. This famous New York cafe and bakery has branches in key cities like Seoul, Osaka, Singapore, Dubai, and around Metro Manila. So it’s pretty surprising to find a branch of the cafe in the hills of Tanay.
If you’re looking for a new cafe destination to enjoy chilly weather with panoramic views near Manila, Dean & Deluca’s newest branch just opened in September 2025 along Marilaque in Tanay, Rizal.

Marilaque has always been a popular destination among motorcycle riders and long-distance cyclists. For years, most dining spots were humble roadside eateries dishing out simple lomi, bulalo, and silog meals that you could pair with instant three-in-one or brewed coffee.
In the past few years, modern cafes and larger establishments have popped up in the area, catering to a wider demographic of tourists and adapting to the growing coffee culture. Aside from the usual rider demographic, the area is regularly frequented by road-tripping families traveling with seniors, kids, or pets eager to escape from city traffic and spend quality time together.

Dean & Deluca’s Tanay branch is located roughly an hour to an hour and a half’s motorcycle drive through the scenic mountain road of Marilaque, after you manage to get past the traffic choke points of Marikina, Antipolo, and Cogeo. You can’t miss it on the left side of the road after Martessem Mountain Resort and right beside Cafe Katerina.
The elegant brick structure stands out against the hills of Sierra Madre. From the parking area right in front of the restaurant, diners have to go down a short stairway and walkway to access the large, multilevel cafe.

Accessibility is good for those traveling with companions in wheelchairs. While the multilevel cafe is perched on a hilly area, there’s a drop-off point with a ramp leading to an elevator exclusively for the use of seniors, PWDs, and pregnant women, which is rare in the area.
There’s a dedicated parking lot for cars and a section for motorcycles right in front of the cafe. I also spotted a bike rack next to the security guard’s station (but bring bike locks to be safe). I’d recommend going by motorcycle or scooter if you visit on weekends, as the parking area is a bit limited.

While many diners reported long lines and waiting times over the holidays last year, I recently dropped by on Saturday right before lunch and was able to get a table immediately.
The venue is bright and airy, with a good number of tables and cozy nooks for tables of two to four people and some longer tables to accommodate larger groups. The seats in the balcony area offer the best views of the Sierra Madre mountains.

The decor inside is simple and elegant, with a wide array of baked goods on display. Overall, the space feels like something you’d find in Tagaytay, rather than Tanay, so expect to pay premium prices if you plan to dine here.
Dean & Deluca has an extensive menu of specialty coffee, teas, fresh juices, baked goods, sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, and lots of gourmet deli goods for sale.

Their coffee options range from Espresso (P160) to Affogato with Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream (P320), with most lattes like Spanish Latte and the Sea Salt Latte I ordered priced at around P220. Signature brews include Velvet Cloud Latte, Vietnamese Latte, and Pistachio Latte (P220 each).

If you’re visiting for brunch or snacks, Dean & DeLuca offers pastries and cakes that you can pair with your coffee, from classic French croissants, pain au chocolat, and slices of Hokkaido cheesecake. They also serve premium gelato with flavors like Wild Strawberry, Sea Salt Caramel, Pistachio, and Kyoto ‘Uji’ Matcha for P220 to P240 per scoop.

Sample dishes on their menu include Truffle Parmesan Fries (P350), Roast Pork Chipotle Grain Bowl (P590), Aglio e Olio e Gamberini pasta (P650), Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich (P580), Truffle Burger (P590), and New York Buttermilk Waffle (P580). Mains include Caramelized Pork Belly (P610), Lamb & Beef Kofta (P750), Yuzu Glazed Salmon (P850), and Chilean Sea Bass (P1,350), to name a few.

The restaurant is well-known for its sourdough pizza with flavors like El Chaparrito, Pepperoni, and Truffle Porcini Mushroom, costing roughly P850 to P980 each (good for sharing).

As a first-time visitor, I haven’t had a chance to try most of the food yet, except for coffee and a sandwich. Like many restaurants in Tanay, the main draw of dining in the area is the scenic drive out of town without having to pass tollways, the accessibility, great weather, and views. I think it’s ideal for special occasions, family road trips, brunch date rides, coffee, and dessert catch-up sessions with friends—or solo rides if you want to treat yourself.

If you’re looking for budget-friendly food, you can always eat in other local restos nearby and drop by for coffee and dessert afterwards. But if you want to dine somewhere new, Dean & Deluca’s Tanay branch offers an elevated gourmet cafe experience with scenic views that will appeal to diners who don’t mind spending more. Aside from being spacious and PWD-friendly, the restaurant also accepts both cash and credit cards.

While I can’t speak for other people’s experiences, I enjoyed the drive going there, the ambiance, chilly weather, coffee and food, and great views to kick off the New Year during my visit. If you come early in the morning in certain months, you might even be lucky enough to witness a view of the sea of clouds right from the balcony, with no need to hike.
