If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’ve seen a certain post from the Interesting Car Spotting group in Facebook. In case you missed it, it’s the all-new Lexus GX being unloaded off a car carrier in what seems to be the Lexus Manila showroom.
With that, the launched of the comprehensively redesigned luxury SUV could be sooner than later. It’s something we’re looking forward to, and we’re pretty sure there will be a lengthy waiting list for it once it’s launched.

Of course, you’re probably wondering what we could expect from the Philippine-spec model. Let’s dissect that viral photo for a bit for some clues.
For starters, we see the GX550 badge on its tailgate. There’s no ‘h’ affixed to it, so the model seen in the social media post packs a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 with 349hp and 649 Nm of torque. That said, given Lexus’ hybrid push, there might be a chance that the GX550h could be offered here with its electrified 2.4-liter twin-turbo mill. However, it’s China that will get that model first.
It also looks like we’re getting the off-road oriented Overtrail model for the local market. However, it is yet to be determined if it’s that standard Overtrail version of the higher-spec Overtrail +. What’s the difference, you ask?
The standard model comes with 18-inch alloys shot in all-terrain tires, Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS), Crawl Control, and a 360-degree camera with Multi-Terrain Monitor. The + model then adds more advanced driver assist system functions, front seat massagers, and a power tailgate.
Prices are up in the air at the moment, but we’re certain that it will be much more than the outgoing model. Before it was pulled off the local lineup, the previous generation GX retailed for P5,960,000. A starting price of P6,500,000 seems realistic, but we wouldn’t be too surprised if it blows past P7,000,000.
