“Not all heroes wear capes.” It’s as cliche as cliche sayings get. But today—on Independence Day in the Philippines, no less—we remembered this specific adage.
We came across this Filipino moto vlogger Ren Ren and his rather unique content. Whereas most content creators on two wheels go around the country sharing the sights and sounds from their adventures, Ren Ren rides around the metro—we reckon usually around his community—and cleans up road hazards.
Think street sweeper but on two wheels. Check this out:

In the video above, you’ll see him and his companion clearing up a patch of sand by the side of a four-lane highway. These might not look like much to the regular motorist, but they’re dangerous to motorcycle riders and cyclists.
Ren Ren also cleans up piled-up mud and even clogged-up drainage that overflow onto the road and make the surface slippery for two-wheelers. And it seems like this guy’s been doing it for a while, and his work isn’t just exclusive to road hazards—he’s cleaned up a littered-up tree at a park before.
Talk about taking matters into your own hands, huh? We’re not just sure whether or not it’s legal to put up cones, wear reflectorized vests, and clean up the road on your own. But no matter what anyone says, we can all admit that we should give this guy props for doing his part (and then some) to make our roads safer. We just wish he had more safety equipment, though.
