Parallel parking is quite a chore for a lot of drivers. We know some people who’d rather walk far in a parking lot than have to squeeze their car into a more strategically located but horizontally positioned slot.
If you’re one of those people, then we have just the video for you: This quick lesson from the one and only RuPaul of RuPaul’s Drag Race fame. While it may not make much sense, this is not the ‘drag race’ we’d normally mention here on Top Gear Philippines. In fact, RuPaul’s a name we don’t normally encounter in this industry, but here we are nonetheless. And we’re all for it.

You see, there are two things to love about this video. One is that the clip is quick, but it explains parallel parking in the most straightforward way possible. It simplifies parallel parking into a few easy steps with just a few key points to remember. We’d leave the talking to RuPaul, though, if y’all don’t mind.

Another thing we absolutely adore here is RuPaul’s car—it’s a thing of beauty. That’s a pristine Mercedes-Benz SL R107, a descendant of the famed Gullwing and Pagoda. Mama Ru knows ball.

To the uninitiated, the reason all these come as such a pleasant surprise to us is that RuPaul is from a world unbeknownst to most gearheads, despite the mention of ‘drag race’ earlier. To the uninitiated, drag is a theatrical form of entertainment, with RuPaul widely being recognized as the Queen of Drag. He is also known as the one to have launched the art into the mainstream, with multiple seasons and iterations of Drag Race held across the world over the years.
From what we’ve researched, however, this video was actually just reposted from 2024. The original clip has earned more than a million views as of this writing, which is cool and all, but the newly reposted version published just a week ago already has more than 8 million views and 960,000 likes on Instagram. How’s that for viral car content?
Anyway, enough yapping. Just watch the video below if you want to learn how to parallel park. Or if you just want to enjoy this entertaining but also informative short clip.
