If you’re looking to bask in Philippine colonial history while still enjoying the perks of traveling away from the metro (read: good food and one-of-a-kind experience), your best bet would be Vigan City in Ilocos Sur. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has maintained its 16th-century charm. And in case you didn’t know, one of the most convenient ways to get to this part of northern Luzon is through Partas’s luxury bus service.

This commuter bus has 26 recliner seats with only three seats in a row, ensuring spacious legroom and a less crowded ride. It also features an on-board restroom, free Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, and an individual entertainment system for each passenger with movies, games, and music. You don’t even have to waste time lining up at the terminal for your tickets because you can book a seat online. A one-way ticket is at P960.

The route isn’t point-to-point and you might spend some time at a stopover, so travel may still take seven to nine hours. But some riders have sworn that a ride can take just six hours—on a really good day. The luxury bus has daily trips at 8am from Cubao to Vigan.
