The Mitsubishi Lancer is iconic among Filipino car lovers. It’s up there with the likes of the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla as an everyman car that’s made a lasting impact.
In recent years though, the amount of Lancers on the road has dwindled. Chalk it up to the fact that this generation has been around for about 10 years now. In that time, both the Civic and Corolla have evolved once or twice over. And with the recent news that the Lancer will be discontinued this year (except for the Grand Lancer model in China and Taiwan), this generation is all we’ve got left to remember this iconic car.
Our columnist Andy Leuterio tested out the current Lancer EX GLS to see what one of the last remaining models has to offer. It’s got old-school hydraulically assisted steering and a five-speed manual box, yet it’s also got modern amenities like daytime running lights. You can find out more about the car by watching the video above. What’s your favorite memory of the Mitsubishi Lancer?
