Any watch enthusiasts here who also happen to be anime fans? Here’s a treat for you: Seiko has just released a new collaboration piece, and it’s with a classic: Fullmetal Alchemist.

This is widely considered as one of the best in the anime world. By widely, I mean me, and maybe a few others. It wasn’t specified here whether this is from the first installation or from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, but it’s clear that it features the series’ main protagonist, Edward Elric.

The timepiece features key elements from the anime. The dial features the Flamel Cross, which was used as a symbol of alchemy in the series. There’s also a lion-like insignia on the subdial—that’s the military crest of the fictional country Amestris. Now, you see the lines on the dial? Those are what make up the transmutation circle, which alchemists in Fullmetal Alchemist use to perform, well, alchemy.

For fans of the anime, you should also know that pocket watches are integral to the Fullmetal Alchemist universe. These are provided to all state alchemists, and each one features the Amestris military insignia. When Elric became a state alchemist himself, he engraved the words “Don’t forget 3 Oct. 11” inside and sealed it shut. These same words are engraved in the back of Seiko’s timepiece.

Lastly, one of the details that pay homage to Edward Elric and Fullmetal Alchemist is the scarlet box that the Seiko watch comes with. This can also be seen in the dial, and while it isn’t explicitly stated, it may (or may not) resemble the color of Elric’s iconic coat as well as the infamous Philosopher’s Stone.

The timepiece features Seiko Caliber 8T67 movement and a stainless steel strap. No word yet on availability in the Philippines, but some websites are already listing preorders for 2027 ranging from P36,000 to P40,000.

What do you guys think of this new collaboration piece from Seiko? I know I’d get one if I could.
