For a decade now, if you wanted high-end headphones that delivered on sound quality and noise-canceling, Sony has got your back with its 1000X series. Beginning with the MDR-1000X in 2016, the line has spawned six versions, the last one launched just last year.
The 1000X line has became a favorite of WFH employees, commuters, and just anyone who enjoys listening to music. And for those who respectfully watch videos on their phone using headphones and earphones, good for you. Don’t be one of those uncultured boors who blast their TikTok feed in closed spaces.
For the 1000X line’s 10th anniversary, Sony decided to level up and introduce its 1000X The Collexion premium headphones. The 1000X has premium metal details, faux leather, soft earcups, and a slim ergonomic design. You can feel the superior build quality when you hold it, and especially when you try it on.

Being Sony’s flagship wireless headphone, the 1000X has a bespoke driver, AI-powered sound upscaling, and Sony’s vaunted noise-cancellation technology. I was able to sample a 1000X wirelessly connected to a Sony Walkman, and the audio was indistinguishable from a wired source.
Sony executives eagerly showed off their newest technological object of desire. Sony Philippines president and managing director Shuhei Sugihara and marketing director Kentaro Imamura gave presentations on Sony’s ongoing vision of fostering creativity, as well as highlighting the 1000X’s place in Sony’s lineup.
The 1000X comes with a carrying case that looks like a designer handbag; a reflection of its aesthetic direction. In fact, Sony’s launch event was every bit a fashion show—complete with a runway and models wearing the new headphones.
Sony also organized a talk with luminaries from the fashion industry. In attendance were designer Rajo Laurel, lifestyle personality Mika Lagdameo, creative director Daryl Chang, and AGC Power Holdings chairman and CEO Archie Carrasco.
The Sony 1000X The Collexion is now available in Sony Centers and authorized dealers for P36,999. That’s higher than what the 1000X line usually costs, but you can see and hear where the added cost went.
