Syunsoku, one of the best-selling children’s athletic shoe brands in Japan, is tapping Honda for a special collaborative model. The collection draws inspiration from the Civic Type R to create a shoe that evokes the same sense of speed and athleticism for young car enthusiasts.
The Syunsoku x Honda Civic Type R shoe comes in three different colorways inspired by the car’s official paint finishes: Championship White, Flame Red, and Racing Blue Pearl. The ‘Type R’ wordmark is boldly printed along the toebox, while the Honda logo can be found on the heel cup. Panel stitching is also done in red to mirror the real car’s interior.

Syunsoku uses one of its products, the Ultima Cheetah, as the base model to create the Civic Type R edition. Like other models in the Syunsoku lineup, the Ultima Cheetah offers a lightweight build for comfort and an asymmetrical outsole design to improve grip while changing directions.

Completing the package is a special shoebox with the FL5 Civic Type R front and center. Each pair retails for ¥6,490 (around P2,500), and preorders are currently up. As of writing, the Championship White colorway is almost sold out—makes sense, given that’s always been the Type R nameplate’s signature look.

Personally speaking, it’s a shame these likely won’t get an adult-sized run. Sure, it’s designed for kids, but it still fits in well with other chunky athletic sneakers in style these days. What do you think of this collab, though? Let us know in the comments.
