TAG Heuer is celebrating the Indy 500’s 110th anniversary through the watchmaker’s Formula 1 collection. The limited-edition solar-powered timepiece will start preselling on May 19, and will cost P158,000.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph x Indy 500 features a solar quartz movement, specifically the Solargraph Calibre TH50-00. This movement uses both natural and artificial light to power the battery, continuously charging throughout the day. Without any exposure to light, the battery can still run for up to 10 months on full autonomy.

The case is made of sandblasted stainless steel and measures 38mm in diameter, 9.9mm in thickness, with an 18.5 lug width. It has a plain steel caseback and is rated for up to 100 meters of water resistance.

Moving on to the face, the watch features a black rotating bezel with bronze-colored markers. The dial is primarily black and has the TAG Heuer Formula 1 logo below the 12 o’clock marker and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway logo above the six o’clock marker. There are no numerals on the hour markers, which are white and outlined in silver.

The hour and minute hands also have this white and silver color scheme, while the second hand is bright red, giving the face a pop of color. The minute track, meanwhile, is bronze similar to the iconic stadium’s logo. There’s a simple date window, outlined in a white box to aid in symmetry.
The Indy 500 edition of the Formula 1 Solargraph opts for a steel bracelet. It has a sandblasted finish, similar to the case, and features a simple folding clasp with TAG Heuer branding.
The Swiss watchmaker has been closely associated with the Indy 500 for decades. As the event’s official timekeeper, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Indy 500 pays tribute to the 110th anniversary of the race, and will be limited to only 1,110 pieces. Will you be eyeing this special-edition timepiece when it comes out?
