Regardless of age, entering the Lego section of any toy store is always a treat. There's always something for everybody—Star Wars, superheroes, Lord of the Rings and (most important) cars. Plenty of the Danish toymaker's best sets are based on cars, and we were lucky enough to have one at our office for a couple of days.
The Lego Creator set we were tasked with assembling was an 'expert level' Ferrari F40—that's 1,158 bricks and pieces. Now to be honest, we didn't think much of it. We asked the experts in our staff how long it would take an adult to build it, and according to them it shouldn't take us more than a couple of hours. The recommended age was only 14 after all. After asking permission from our managing editor to take a few hours off for shooting, we got to work.
Boy, were we wrong. Long story short: It took us over eight hours of cursing, eight 16GB SD cards, half a bag of Flat Tops, several mental breakdowns, and a ton of dad jokes (mostly mine) to accomplish our mission. But man, seeing that car finally become whole was well worth it. Want to see how we did it? We'd rather you didn’t, but press play on the video above.
