The Light Rail Transit Line 2, or LRT-2, is a vital mass transit system in Metro Manila. Also known as the Megatren or Purple Line, the LRT-2 currently spans 17.6km, connecting the cities of Antipolo in Rizal, Marikina, Pasig, Quezon City, San Juan, and Manila, providing commuters with a more affordable means of transportation. Along with the LRT-1 and the MRT-3, the LRT-2 plays a crucial role in easing traffic congestion and reducing travel time for commuters.

As of January 2026, there are currently 13 stations on the LRT-2 running from Antipolo to Recto on the east-to-west route. The LRT-2  line also provides links to the MRT-3 through a walkway in Gateway Mall and Araneta Center and to the LRT-1 through a connecting bridgeway to Doroteo Jose station.

While the LRT-2 has been operational since 2003, the most recent East Extension Project linking to Marikina and Antipolo was launched in July 2021. There are also approved plans for a three-station westbound extension to improve connectivity across some of the busiest parts in the Port area of Manila.

Pending right-of-way acquisition and construction delays, the planned West Extension Project is expected to extend the line further west from its current endpoint in Recto. Once completed, the LRT-2 line will add three stations in Divisoria, Tutuban, and Pier 4
