Honda Philippines, the country’s reigning best-selling motorcycle brand, has been launching bike after bike recently. And as if by force of habit, it has teased each one’s release with a video showing off the bike’s silhouette.
The company’s latest launch was no different: About a couple of weeks after the release of the requisite teaser, the 2020 Honda Air Blade was revealed at Market! Market! in Bonifacio Global City today, January 18. Endorsing this sharp scoot are brand ambassadors Coco Martin and Yassi Pressman, much to the delight of the audience.
The Air Blade is an all-new scooter to our market, with the 2020 model having been first launched in Vietnam (as is usual in our region) just a couple of months ago.
This new model’s compact 150cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke single-cylinder engine comes complete with all the goodies that Honda gives its latest small-bike powerplants: Intelligent Low Friction technology, an electronically controlled ACG starter, and a PGM-FI system. Maximum power is 12.9hp at 8,500rpm, while max torque is 13.3Nm at 5,000rpm. According to Honda, these figures are now produced 4% more efficiently compared with the 2014 Air Blade.
The scooter’s sharp, modern looks are complemented by a plethora of handy features such as a 22.7-liter utility box that can fit either a full-face helmet or two half-face lids, a divider for the under-seat storage compartment, an integrated storage LED lamp, a conveniently positioned fuel-tank lid that eliminates the need to lift the seat when filling up, a multifunction key shutter, Honda’s Smart Key system for keyless ignition, integrated buttons for the fuel-tank lid and the utility box, and a USB outlet.
Safety features include ABS (single-channel), park brake lock, and a side-stand switch as standard. Available color options include Candy Blue Caribbean, Candy Ross Red, and Galaxy Matte Black Metallic.
The 2020 Honda Air Blade is priced at P109,000. Interested? You can expect to start seeing this scooter in Honda dealerships by March 2020.
