Following the success of the 890 Duke R last year, KTM has presented its latest entry in the midsize naked-bike segment, the 2021 KTM 890 Duke.

“With the KTM 890 Duke R, we knew we were bringing a bike that was distinctly KTM to the market, and it was only a matter of time before we could reshape that package to introduce the ideal second generation of ‘The Scalpel,’” said KTM product management head Adriaan Sinke. “We found where we could either improve or offer the rider more than could be found on the KTM 790 Duke.”

The new 890 Duke is powered by an 889cc DOHC liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine that is capable of 115hp and 92Nm—10hp and 5Nm more than the 790 Duke. The powertrain is housed in a compact and light chassis made of chromium-molybdenum steel.

The model features a WP APEX suspension package—43mm front forks and rear monoshock, aluminum-cast triple clamps, and 300mm (front) and 240mm (rear) disc brakes for stopping power. It’s also fitted with die-cast alloy wheels and Continental ContiRoad tires.

The 890 Duke comes with four riding modes: Sport, Street, Rain, and Track. Its software and electronics kit includes cornering motorcycle traction control, motorcycle stability control with cornering ABS, motor slip regulation, and Supermoto mode, among other rider aids. Quickshifter and Track mode are optional.

Sinke added: “The KTM 890 Duke is stuffed with the DNA of KTM: Ready to Race, technically advanced, and engineered to meet the demands of any rider. It takes pride of place in the Duke family and is another big statement in not only the midweight market, but also the naked-bike segment. I’d normally tell riders to enjoy this one but, this time, there is really no need.”
