Cruiser fans in the Philippines can look forward to exciting times ahead with the launch of the 2021 Yamaha Bolt R in Japan. The latest model now comes in a new color scheme—Grayish Blue Metallic.
This new shade gets rid of the white racing stripes on the lower side of the tank, as seen on the Purplish Blue Metallic option for the 2020 iteration. Instead, the Bolt R now gets a ‘Bolt’ decal in the same place. In addition, the 2021 model is available only with brushed-finish alloy wheels (19 inches up front and 16 inches at the rear). This means it will no longer get the spoked wheels of the 2020 version.

Otherwise, all the features of the Yamaha Bolt R remain unchanged. Among them is the 941cc SOHC V-twin engine with four valves per cylinder. Peak power and torque are 53hp at 5,500 rpm and 80Nm at 3,000rpm, respectively. The suspension comprises 41mm telescopic forks and a spec’d-up twin piggyback-reservoir shock absorbers.
The Bolt R tips the scales at 235kg, and its stopping needs are handled by 282mm petal brake discs at the front and rear with dual ABS. It comes with a classic teardrop-shaped 13-liter fuel tank that blends perfectly with its round headlamp and taillight.
In Japan, the 2021 Yamaha Bolt R is priced at 1,045,000 Japanese yen, or roughly P465,000. We think Yamaha Motor Philippines will bring this iconic cruiser to our shores in no time. The question is, when exactly?
