Yamaha’s YZF-R15 sportbike has received a fresh new coat of paint for the 2021 model year.
R15 enthusiasts in Malaysia, where the new color has first been unveiled, can now get the bike in a cool silver scheme with fluorescent yellow wheels. This paint job is reminiscent of the white/silver color for the YZF-R6 previously available in some markets. Don’t you think it looks strikingly similar? Check out the R6 below:

New color aside, nothing much has really changed for the 2021 R15. The engine is still the 155cc single-cylinder mill good for 19hp at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm of torque at 8,500rpm. Same with the suspension: still the gold inverted front fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock in the rear. Brakes are similarly carried over from last year’s model, with a 282mm rotor up front and a 220mm rotor out back.
All other features are the same as well: an LCD dash providing rider info, a deltabox frame, an assist and slipper clutch, all-around LED lighting, an aluminum swingarm, and a slightly larger-than-usual 140/70-17 rear tire.

The asking price—for the Malaysian market, at least—is still 11,988 Malaysian ringgit (around P141,000), which is a bit cheaper than the P164,000 price tag of a PH-market model.
Think Yamaha Motor Philippines should bring in this slick new color? We definitely do.
