Italian motorcycle manufacturer Lambretta has launched its J200 modern-classic scooter in the Philippines. The J200 starts at P265,000 for the Sport, which has black trim, and P275,000 for the Premium variant, which opts for matte silver trim.
A modern rendition of the J-Series from the mid- to late ’60s, the J200 features a classic silhouette with modern tech. Lambretta global CEO Walter Scheffrahn says the team took inspiration from the beach when designing the scooter, taking elements from surfboards and waves into the body lines.
“When I look at the design of the J, it is made basically for Filipinos,” adds Scheffrahn. “The essence was the beach, and there’s no country in the world with so many beaches as beautiful as the Philippines.”

Propelling the J200 is a 174.5cc fuel-injected engine mated to a continuously variable transmission. Power output is listed at 16.5hp and 15.5Nm of torque. The scooter features double arm-link front suspension with preload-adjustable front and rear shock absorbers. It also has dual-channel ABS with 12-inch alloy wheels wrapped in a 110/70/R12 tire on the front and 120/70/R12 in the rear. Meanwhile, the fuel tank can hold nine liters of gasoline.
Other features on the J200 include a TFT display that supports phone connectivity, USB Type-A and Type-C outlets in the legshield compartment, smart keyless operation, and a synthetic leather seat with enough storage for a half-face helmet underneath.
“We try to be affordable—not cheap—to everybody. But that is a challenge because we are premium,” adds the CEO. “I see it as a personal objective to grow substantially in the Philippines. When I go to different places, I bring a Lambretta, and I think the Philippines is a very important [market]. It’s also very nice to be here, I must say.”
