Last week, BMW Motorrad took the covers off the F450 R. Officially the brand’s second-smallest naked bike, the F450 R borrows the flagship S1000 R’s athletic styling and pairs it with a 420cc parallel-twin engine—the same one found in the adventurous F450 GS.
Now, BMW has given that engine a new platform for riders to play on. This is the all-new F450 RR, and like the two middleweight bikes mentioned earlier, it also borrows design cues from its larger sibling, the S1000 RR.

The F450 RR features sporty winglets, an exposed frame, and an underbelly muffler. It comes in the brand’s iconic white, red, and blue colorway, with a pop of gold from the upside-down fork. As mentioned, the sport bike uses the same engine as the rest of the F450 lineup—a 420cc parallel-twin mated to a six-speed gearbox, cranking out 48hp and 43Nm of torque. The gas tank takes up to 14 liters of fuel.

Riding modes include Rain, Road, Race, and Race Pro, which affect throttle and traction sensitivity. In Race Pro mode, riders can adjust the throttle response, Dynamic Traction Control, and Anti-lock Brake System individually. There’s also no need to use the clutch on upshifts and downshifts; the bike comes with Shift Assistant Pro, which acts as a quickshifter with auto-blip

As for ergonomics, the F450 RR puts you in a sporty but comfortable riding position. BMW wants this to be an entry point for first-time sport bike owners, eventually leading them into the supersport category. The brand also expects most riders to use the bike for daily commutes. The F450 RR’s seat height is 31.1 inches, but BMW says it can also provide seats with varying heights to suit different riders’ inseams.
Other features include a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, 17-inch wheels wrapped in a 110/70 R17 tire in front and 150/60 R17 in the back, and Brembo four-piston calipers up front, with BMW Motorrad ABS Pro on both front and rear brake discs.
The BMW F450 RR is priced at $7,815 (P492,696) in the US, with options for accessories like M hand lever protectors, a radiator grille guard, and axle protectors. BMW Motorrad hasn’t confirmed the bike’s arrival on our shores yet, but with the F450 GS already in the Philippines, we can keep our fingers crossed.
