When it comes to adventure bikes, a lot is expected from a model line that actually has ‘adventure’ in its name. But the BMW GS Adventure line more than lives up to its name. It is a revered badge by all those who want to explore the world on two wheels.
And now BMW Motorrad has launched the 2024 R1300 GS Adventure bike lineup. It has the newest motorcycle tech, improved ergonomics, and new design elements that will entice its core audience.

At the heart of the new R1300 GS Adventure is its twin-cylinder boxer engine, smaller than its predecessor thanks to a new arrangement of the camshaft drive and placing the transmission under the engine. The 1,300cc engine produces 145hp at 7,750rpm and 149Nm at 6,500rpm. This makes it the most powerful BMW boxer engine ever produced in series.

With a new design that sets it apart from its sister model, the R1300 GS, the R1300 GS Adventure prominently displays its uncovered 30L sheet aluminum fuel tank. This fuel tank has three fastening elements for easy refueling and fast access to the smartphone charging compartment. This fastening solution offers individual eyelets for items of luggage, and an articulating mount with snap lock for the 12L tank bag with waterproof inner bag (available as an accessory).

The large windshield and transparent wind deflectors give protection from the wind and weather. Rubberized tank trays on either side of the upper tank covers are also standard. These improvements and ergonomic changes make the all-new R1300 GS Adventure weigh just 1kg heavier than its predecessor, coming in at 269kg.
From a tubular steel construction, the R1300 GS Adventure now has an aluminum lattice tube rear frame made of aluminum tubes and forged parts. Better steering precision and riding stability come from the EVO Telelever front wheel guide with flex element and the revised EVO Paralever rear wheel guide.

The new Dynamic Suspension Adjustment now combines the dynamic adjustment of the front and rear damping with a corresponding adjustment of the spring rate. The result is a better riding experience on all surfaces. The BMW R1300 GS Adventure also offers fully automatic adjustment of the vehicle height to suit the operating conditions, thanks to adaptive vehicle height control.
For safety the R1300 has active cruise control, front collision warning, lane change warning, and rear-end collision warning. Similar to modern automobiles, the latter will flash the hazard warning lights rapidly to signal an impending rear-end collision.

The Triple Black variants of the RS1300 GS Adventure have a special feature called Automated Shift Assistant (ASA). In M shift mode gear changes can still be made via foot control, giving the rider autonomy to change gear. But in D shift mode the shift points are automatically selected by the engine control unit. ASA works with the active cruise control, front collision warning, and factors in motorcycle load, road gradient, and road surface.
