My my, Ducati is on quite a roll, isn’t it? Just shortly after it unveiled its first enduro bike in the all-new Desmo450 EDS, the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer has launched the Desmo250 MX.
Yes, it’s a small motocross bike that comes just one year after the Desmo450 MX made its debut. This one, however, is quite the thing—it revs all the way to 15,000rpm.

We’re talking about a compact 249cc desmodromic engine that weighs a mere 24.7kg and churns out 43.89hp at 12,500rpm. The powertrain promises balanced torque across the rev range to enable power and responsiveness at both low and high revs.

The Desmo250 MX chassis is also based on its bigger 450 sibling’s perimeter frame and aluminum swingarm, and it’ been tuned to optimal stiffness for the best braking and cornering performance.

The 250 MX also borrows the same Brembo brake system from the 450, which consists of 260mm front and 240mm rear Galfer discs. The 250’s electronics are also derived from the 450’s, boasting three levels of Ducati Traction Control, two levels of engine braking, and three levels of launch control. Like the 450 EDS, the 250 MX’s traction control bases actual rear wheel spin to determine the amount and strength of intervention.
Other things to note in the Desmo250 MX is that it comes with an entirely new exhaust system, a five-speed gearbox built specifically for this bike, and a Brembo clutch system with a seven-plate clutch. When wet, the bike weighs 103kg.
Sales of the Desmo250 MX will begin in Europe in July, with the rest of the world following soon after. Price is listed at £8,995, or about P730,000 before taxes. Your thoughts on this motocross bike, readers? Would you like to see this in the Philippines?
