Is it going ahead or not? This question will continue to haunt the many followers of the annual Inside Racing Bike Festival and Trade Show (IRBFTS), as its organizers have decided to postpone this year’s event once again due to uncertainties brought about by the COVID-19 crisis.
Al Camba of Inside Racing posted on the brand’s official website that the organizers have decided to move this year’s three-day motorcycle show to a still-unknown date within the year.
“Sadly, despite everybody’s effort, the recent global trend and uncertainty regarding the fight against the pandemic and the existing government policy against mass gatherings and conventions, an event of a large scale such as the IRBFTS in July seems improbable and risky,” says Camba.
“Therefore, Inside Racing has made the tough decision to postpone the event indefinitely for 2020,” he added.
Originally set for March 27 to 29, 2020, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, the 14th edition of the ISRBFTS was first moved to July 17 to 19. The decision was officially announced by Camba a few days after the government imposed the enhanced community quarantine in the entire Luzon region.
But based on the government’s announcement today, the ongoing policy on social distancing will still be strictly implemented indefinitely in Metro Manila and other areas with high infection rates. What makes things more complicated for the IRBFTS was the government’s move to transform the World Trade Center into a massive facility for COVID-19 patients.
With these factors in mind, will we see Camba follow in the footsteps of other motorcycle shows that have shifted to digital platforms under the so-called ‘new normal?’
The IRBFTS is considered the biggest bike show in the country, and we are one with its thousands of followers in hoping and praying that this event will finally push through. Nothing beats seeing those awesome stallions in the metal, after all. Let’s cross our fingers.
