We’re guessing this will make it to the Philippines sooner rather than later

One of the Philippines’ most popular scooters just got an update: Ladies and gents, say hello to the all-new Suzuki Burgman Street.

This isn’t in the market yet, though, as it has only been unveiled in India. That said, considering how big this model is here, Suzuki Philippines will probably bring it in at the soonest time possible. Anyway...

Suzuki calls this a full model change, but it retains its 124cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that now churns out 8.34hp at 6,500rpm and 10.2Nm at 5,250rpm. Peak power and torque are now achieved at slightly lower revs, while horsepower figures are down ever so slightly.

The differences between this and the outgoing model are with the design and the tech. First, the styling. The scooter now looks simpler and cleaner, with more rounded and less sculpted fairings and smaller turn signals. The headlight has that familiar shape, but it’s now much sleeker than ever. Suzuki has also removed the black trim accentuating the front to make way for contrasting body panels above the headlamp.

There’s still a small windshield and an open floorboard as you move towards the center, while the rear end has been completely reworked. It still has that familiar silhouette, but the taillight is now shaped like an inverted ‘U.’

New equipment can be found here as well. There’s a digital instrument cluster, now with smartphone connectivity. The Burgman Street now has a smart key, and the ignition switch also incorporates the unlocking mechanism for the seat and the fuel-tank lid. Speaking of which, this also gets a 5.5-liter fuel tank.

The updated Suzuki Burgman Street still sits on 12-inch wheels, with front disc and rear drum brakes. It’s slightly shorter and narrower than the old model, however, standing 1,860mm long and 700mm wide. It’s still 1,140mm tall with 160mm of ground clearance, but seat height is now at 775mm (30.5 inches), which is down 5mm (0.2 inches).

No word yet on when this will arrive in the Philippines, but as we said earlier, we don’t think we’re going to have to wait long for this one. In the meantime, tell us: What do you think of the new Suzuki Burgman Street?
