On February 21, 2019, Moto Italia Philippines unveiled its two new Vespa scooter models with sexy color schemes that are perfect for evening motorcycle eventsHeld at XYLO at The Palace in Bonifacio Global City, the launch of the 2019 Vespa Sprint 150 Notte and the Vespa GTS 300 Super Notte was led by Moto Italia PH president Willy Tee Ten.

Notte, the Italian word for ‘night,’ perfectly summarizes the all-black styling of these limited-series scooters. They’ll surely be a hit among ‘nocturnal’ riders who frequent bike nights to show off their compact yet smart-looking commuters.

Both Vespa Notte variants have subdued but sophisticated matte-black bodywork that act as a canvas for the gloss-black detailing in the headlights (round-shaped for the GTS 300 and square for the Sprint 150), mirrors, controls and switches, grab rails, and rims. They also boast a stylish combination of digital and analog instruments that create a simple and classic-looking interface. The plush seats, finished in what appears to be black leather, will likely provide enough cushioning for the riders over most surfaces.

The smaller of the two models, the Sprint 150 Notte, is equipped with Piaggio’s environment-friendly 150cc three-valve, single-cylinder engine with a modern electronic fuel-injection system. Its features give the scooter great fuel efficiency, cleaner emissions, quick acceleration, and a quiet, smooth ride. This ‘i-get’ engine produces 12.7hp at 7,750rpm and 12.8Nm at 6,500rpm.

Bolstering the Sprint Notte’s character as a premium yet reliable city commuter are its continuously variable transmission, stylish LED headlight with DRLs for better midday visibility, and ABS-equipped brakes for secure braking in any condition.

Meanwhile, the bigger Vespa GTS 300 Super Notte is propelled by a more powerful 273cc engine for versatility both in city riding and touring. The liquid-cooled, four-stroke motor has a single cylinder with four valves and electronic fuel injection. Maximum power is 21hp at 7,750rpm, and peak torque is 22Nm at 5,000rpm.

The ASR traction control and the two-channel ABS are welcome additions for improving the scooter’s handling. They work hand in hand to make sure the tires maintain maximum grip in all road conditions.

Take note: There are only 50 units of the Sprint 150 Notte and 20 of the GTS 300 Super Notte—priced at P228,000 and P368,000, respectively—for the Philippine market. Also, the windscreen and the top box you see with the scooters in these photos are not standard equipment.

Do you think the price is right for these premium Italian scooters?
