Asian Carmakers, the exclusive distributor of BMW vehicles in the Philippines, will unveil the all-new BMW X1 on January 28.

The distributor hopes to attract a niche market of individuals with very active lifestyle for BMW's sport activity vehicle.

"The X1 is for a very new niche. It's an entry-level vehicle that will cater to yuppies, young families and people who are very active," said Asian Carmakers sales director Mariano Cruz, Jr.

The first X1 variant to hit the country is BMW's 2.0-liter 20d that comes with six-speed automatic transmission and the German carmaker's Steptronic system.

The BMW X1 20d promises to deliver an output of 177hp per 4,000rpm and a maximum torque of 350Nm per 1,750rpm.
