Aston Martin has taken the top off the V12 Vantage to make a limited-edition roadster known as--you guessed it--the V12 Vantage Roadster.

The V12 Vantage Roadster makes use of the same powertrain as the V12 Vantage Coupe like the 6.0-liter V12 engine that's paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. With an output of 510hp and 570Nm, the car is capable of dispatching the zero-to-100kph sprint in 4.5 seconds before the most potent Aston Martin roadster reaches a top speed of 306kph.

While the Roadster shares much of the technical and specification features of the V12 Vantage Coupe, some elements were redesigned to take account of the car's packaging and dynamics.

The redesigned rear boot lid and lower front air intake maintain a level of performance that's in keeping with the V12 Coupe. There's also the modified rear damper setup, front and rear damper valve tuning and new rear spring design that, together with the Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, ensures the car delivers dramatic straight-line performance as well as outstanding handling. Carbon fiber is also abundant in the car as the lightweight material is used for the side strakes, front splitter, rear diffuser, mirror caps, and rear lamp in-fills.

Inside, the distinguishing features that make the new car stand out from its V8 and V12 siblings are the glass switches in the lower center stack, and more carbon fiber for the fascia and gearshift surround.

"The V12 Vantage models are, first and foremost, driver's cars--inviting and fully rewarding the driver's full involvement," said Aston Martin chief executive Ulrich Bez. "The addition to our range of this exceptional new Roadster allows the driver and passenger to experience full 'sensory overload', thanks to its outstanding performance. I believe no other car in this class offers the combination of the V12 Vantage Roadster's prestige, six-speed manual gearbox and the unique enjoyment that driving a high-performance convertible can deliver."
