It’s been quite the busy year for SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation (SMCACDC) so far. Back in February, the company launched the new BMW 1-Series and X1 here in the Philippines. Now, just a few months after, it has officially brought in the new 2-Series Gran Coupe.
This new 2-Series is quite the sporty-looking Bimmer, with sharp lines accentuating its exterior from one end to the other. It features the signature kidney grille up front, while its sides are highlighted with glossy 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside is what you’d expect from a BMW, with an elegant and premium interior headlined by Sensatec-upholstered seats. Mounted on the dash is an 8.8-inch infotainment system that’s accessible via the BMW iDrive wheel.
There are a lot of driver amenities here, too, but what’s noteworthy is the BMW Parking Assistant which allows for automatic assisted parking in parallel and perpendicular slots. It also enables the car to automatically maneuver itself out of tight parallel parking spaces. But if automated parking isn’t necessarily your cup of tea, you still have the Park Distance Control with front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera at your disposal.
The 2-Series Gran Coupe is powered by a 1.5-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine that generates 140hp and 220Nm of torque. This sends power to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch Steptronic transmission. In case you still have to ask: No, the 302hp M235i Gran Coupe won’t be making its way here.
As for its price, the new BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe is pegged at P2,990,000 and comes with SMCACDC’s new five-year/200,000km warranty. Color options include Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red, and Mineral Grey.
