It looks like we didn’t need to wait long for the refreshed Mitsubishi Montero Sport to arrive on local shores.
Images showing several units of the new midsize SUV on board a flatbed truck driving along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) have recently begun making the rounds on social media. This development comes less than two months after the new Montero Sport’s global reveal in Thailand.
From the images, which Facebook user Jom Robles gave us permission to share, we can see portions of the midsize SUV’s new-look front face—specifically, the updated grille and the new set of Xpander-ish lighting units. We also get a proper look at the vehicle’s rear end, though that part of the design has remained largely unchanged from the current model.
Units in Thailand also get a new eight-inch digital LCD meter and a power tailgate, though there’s been no indication if these features will make their way to Philippine-spec Montero Sports. Underneath the hood is the same 2.4-liter MIVEC turbodiesel engine capable of 178hp and 430Nm.
Rumor has it the new Mitsubishi Montero Sport will start at P1,769,000, with three variants available at launch, and a new GT 2WD variant replacing the current GLS Premium. None of this info has been confirmed yet, so stay tuned for further details.
Do you think a launch will be taking place in the near future?
