A few weeks ago, Hyundai released the initial photos of the updated Tucson for the 2024 model year. At the time, there weren’t much details released. Now, the South Korean automaker has published the full specifications, at least for the home market model.
So, what’s new, you ask? Let’s dive right to it.

We’ve covered the exterior before, and it’s a bit of a ‘spot the difference’ contest. There’s the reshaped front bumper with sharper corners and new foglights. 2024 also brings a more prominent faux skid plate for a little more road presence. New wheel designs and a reshaped rear bumper wrap up the exterior updates.
Inside, there’s totally redesigned dashboard that adds more storage areas than before. The air-conditioning vents have been repositioned lower, and the new steering wheel take a page from its EV stablemates, the Ioniq5 and Ioniq6. Lastly, there is one widescreen panel that houses both the instrument panel and infotainment touchscreen system.

In-car tech gets a boost, too. The 2024 Hyundai Tucson comes with the latest software for its infotainment system that also allows for over the air (OTA) updates. That means the screen will always be bang up to date. There’s also the fingerprint authentication system that lets the driver perform simple payment in the vehicle or disabling valet mode. It even allows the vehicle to be started and driven only through fingerprint recognition without a smart key.
For added protection, the South Korean version of the 2024 Tucson even features a built-in dashcam. Not only that, there is also another camera mounted at the back for more coverage. It also has voice recording, large-capacity external memory, OTA function, and vehicle driving information storage and playback functions (map linkage, etc.). Also included is impact detection, saved video transmission while parking, and built-in cam status information.

Of course, the updated Tucson has advanced driver assist systems fitted as standard. Dubbed Hyundai SmartSense, it includes forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking for front and rear, lane keep assist, and rear cross traffic alert. On top of those, there are other nifty features such as safe exit warning, rear collision prevention assist, and navigation-based smart cruise control.
As for the engines, the home market Hyundai Tucson has two options. The first is a 1.6-liter turbo petrol that has long replaced the 2.0-liter, non-turbocharged unit paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. That mill is good for 178hp and 265Nm of torque. For those who prefer diesel power, there’s the 2.0-liter turbodiesel that packs 182hp and 417Nm of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is optional for the 1.6-liter turbo and standard in the diesel.
