The BMW 3-Series may be Bavaria’s cash cow, but the X3 is also one of its main profit drivers. It’s also the company’s second best-selling model in the range, so news of an all-new model is significant, indeed.

An all-new BMW X3 is due for the 2025 model year. It’s about time too given that the current generation is already turning seven years old. That’s about right for a BMW model cycle.

The all-new X3 will be fully revealed sometime this year. But before that, the company has officially previewed the latest version of its most popular crossover. By the looks of things, it looks more like a subtle evolution than a radical redesign.

It makes sense, though. Given that BMW easily sells over 200,000 units of the X3 every year, it can’t afford to rock the boat too much with this model. Safe to say that train of thought applies to the 3-Series.

At the front, there’s a rather ‘normal’ sized grille. That’s not something that could be said about more recent offerings from the company, namely the 7-Series and X2. That grille is then flanked by slim headlights that sport a unique LED signature.

The side profile looks similar to the previous X3 which comes as no surprise given that it has followed that pattern for 20 years. That said, the body appears to be longer than before. As for the rear, the license plate holder has been moved lower into the bumper just like the X2.

There are no interior photos just yet. However, we could expect massive screens in there without much in the way of buttons. It could likely draw inspiration from the all-new 5-Series and facelifted X5. Given the larger looking exterior, more interior space is also likely.

Moving to powertrains, the 2025 BMW X3 could see a mix of turbo petrol, turbodiesel, and plug-in hybrid options. However, we might see less of the internal combustion engine arrangements in favor of electrified versions, but that will depend on the market it will be sold to down the line. The all-electric iX3 then moves to its own platform, effectively making it a standalone model.
