While Lynk & Co gains some traction in the Philippines, over in China, there’s some pretty big news. The Swedish-Chinese automaker has just unveiled its flagship SUV. Simply dubbed the 900, it packs huge numbers across the board.
But aside from that, the 900 also hints at a new design language that could soon be applied to its future models.

The Lynk & Co 900 benefits greatly from the Geely-Volvo partnership. That’s mainly because the platform it uses is an evolution of the Volvo SPA or Scalable Product Architecture. With that, the 900 shares a good chunk of its DNA with all Volvo models, mainly the XC90 and pure electric EX90.
But what sets this model apart from its Volvo roots is its sheer size. The XC90 and EX90 aren’t what anyone would call compact, but the 900’s dimensions dwarf its Scandinavian cousins. It measures 5,240 mm long, 1,999 mm wide (sans side mirrors), 1,810 mm tall, with a whopping wheelbase of 3,160 mm. For comparison, the EX90 boasts dimensions of 5,037mm long, 2,037mm wide, 1,747mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,894mm.

In terms of design, it’s flatter and more angular than the current Lynk & Co models. It’s about time, we say, as the company does need to evolve in that aspect. It still features the company’s distinct light pattern, but modernized. Flat, simple lines dominate the body, and full width tail lights with a split tailgate define the rear end.
Thanks to its long wheelbase, the photos appear to give the impression of vast space, even in the third row. It has 2+2+2 seating, meaning cushy chairs in all rows. It’s also standard with a massive 30-inch wide infotainment screen that spans nearly the entire dashboard.
The driver’s instrument cluster is tiny in comparison. Speaking of screens, there’s also a ceiling-mounted rear entertainment system.

On to powertrains, there are three plug-in hybrid options. The entry-level model pairs a 1.5-liter turbo to a dual-motor arrangement that packs a total system output of 711hp. How’s that for a ‘base’ model?
The mid-spec 900 model bumps the engine capacity to 2.0-liters and total output to 724hp. And if that’s still not enough, the most powerful model punches out a wild 845hp. Range has yet to be given, but we wouldn't be surprised if the company claims at least 1,000km.

But it doesn’t just pack a lot of power under the hood, but also has loads of processing power. The infotainment’s software is handled by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chips, while the advanced driver assist systems are powered by Nvidia Orin X or Thor chips.
