This might be the next-gen Mitsubishi Montero Sport

What an interesting light arrangement

Back in May, Mitsubishi North America showed a teaser image to show its upcoming models. Dubbed Momentum 2030, the vehicles shown there are expected to roll out within a couple of years.

One of the models shown there appeared to be a midsize SUV, almost resembling a Montero Sport. With rumors of the Montero (what North American markets call the Pajero) revival spreading in the US, it appears that Mitsubishi wants in on the midsize 4x4 market over there.

So, why are we bringing this up again? See, there’s a new teaser image released by Mitsubishi. This time, it’s from Australia and there are several relatable models we see in the shot. But what caught our attention is the vehicle sitting right in the middle of it all.

Okay, it’s mostly SUVs in the photo and what appears to be a hotter version of the Triton pickup. We believe the latter deserves its own story, so we’ll focus on what could be the next-gen Mitsubishi Montero Sport.

It looks markedly different from the teaser in the US. It still sports an interesting daytime running light pattern, though. But instead of a single light bar, we see a T-shaped arrangement. We also see defined corner edges on this SUV.

We’re trying to wrap our heads around its possible look. That T-shaped DRL is a bit of a curveball if you ask us. If this is the all-new Montero Sport, this fourth-gen model could continue the third-gen’s tradition of, er, opinion-dividing styling. Also, there’s a good chance that it will have distinct styling from the Triton.

The redesigned Mitsubishi Montero Sport has already been long confirmed to be launched sometime in 2025. However, we reckon that it will make its world premiere in late 2025 with production commencing in 2026. Why, you ask? The current generation was recently updated and it's unlikely that Mitsubishi will give it an extremely short production cycle.
