The all-new Suzuki Swift made its world premiere during last year’s Japan Mobility Show. Months have passed since its debut, and some markets have started offering it to their respective customers.

But with a new Swift, what does that mean for its sedan counterpart, the Suzuki Dzire? As it turns out, we can expect the next generation before the year ends. That’s according to various reports from India, Top Gear India included.

Per Top Gear India and Autocar India, it is said that the next-gen Dzire will feature unique styling. It’s likely that the front ends of the Swift and Dzire will look identical, but will feature enough differences to spot one from the other. Its expected debut is around the second half of the year, possibly by the fourth quarter.

But the big deal here will be the rear end. Spy photos show that it will be more than just a Swift with a truncated, um, trunk. There seems to be a more rakish rear windshield in the fourth-gen Dzire that should even out the visual proportions. It will be interesting to see what the final product will look like once launched.

The interior will likely be shared with the Swift, although that’s possibly a given by now. Reports do claim that it will have more convenience features than before, along with the addition of advanced driver assist systems such assign autonomous emergency braking and lane keep assist.

Engines are unknown at this point, but the new 1.2-liter, three-cylinder mill from the all-new Swift is a likely candidate. If so, we might be looking at mild-hybrid mill that makes 82hp and 112 Nm of torque. Here’s to hoping it gets a CVT or an automatic in place of the automated manual transmission.

As one might have figured out by now, the all-new Suzuki Dzire will be first offered in India. That shouldn’t be much of a surprise given that its the small sedan’s largest market. Like the last three models, it’s likely that the sole production hub of this car will be in India.

Chances are, it will be exported out of there and eventually land in ‘emerging market’ countries like ours. Of course, that will all depend on the current model's sales and if the local arm will consider it for here.
