The all-new Suzuki Dzire has just made its world premiere. Not long after that, the Global New Car Assessment Program (GlobalNCAP) published the results of its safety tests.

It’s safe to say (pun unintended) that the redesigned Dzire is off to a great start. That’s because the safety agency just gave it its highest honors of five stars.

It’s great news for Suzuki as it’s the first model that achieved this rating from GlobalNCAP. The standard safety equipment that includes stability control, helped the new subcompact sedan draw praises from the agency.

Front occupant protection was generally rated as good. There were low injury indexes across the board in both frontal and side impact tests. GlobalNCAP did note marginal protection for the test, but it wasn’t enough to knock off a star. More importantly, the body and structural integrity of the vehicle remained stable.

For rear passenger protection, GlobalNCAP said that the new Suzuki Dzire showed good protection to the head and chest, as recorded by the child-sized dummy. One point for improvement was neck protection, something that could be improved by installing a rear-facing child seat. Overall, it was still rated good.

It’s a massive improvement over the outgoing Dzire. The previous model was only given two stars due to body integrity and relatively high injury indexes recorded. With that, any improvement in safety is welcome, and the redesigned Dzire is possibly one of the safest budget sedans out there. All that's left to do now is launch it in the Philippines.
