Recent homologation papers from the Land Transportation Office hint that an updated 2027 Mitsubishi Triton is coming soon. These are the variants confirmed by the LTO documents:
2027 Mitsubishi Triton variants:
- Mitsubishi Triton GL 2WD MT
- Mitsubishi Triton GX 2WD AT
- Mitsubishi Triton GLX 2WD MT
- Mitsubishi Triton GLX 2WD AT
- Mitsubishi Triton GLS 2WD AT
- Mitsubishi Triton Athlete 4WD AT

Notably missing are the GL 4WD MT and GLX 4WD MT, leaving the Athlete (only sold with an automatic transmission) as the sole 4WD option.

All variants retain the 2.4-liter diesel engine, with the single-turbo configuration good for 183hp and 430Nm and the Athelete-exclusive twin-turbo setup making 204hp and 470Nm. These numbers are unchanged from the current model.

Updates could be coming to the Triton’s suspension, however. In Japan, the Triton GSR—the equivalent to the Athlete in our market—received performance dampers courtesy of Yamaha.
These components help reduce noise and vibration by absorbing chassis distortion as the vehicle moves. Along with improving shock-absorber responsiveness, these upgrades should make riding in the Triton a more liveable experience.

For our truck enthusiasts: with the price of diesel skyrocketing, is the Triton still on your list of pickups worth taking a look at? Or is it time to consider the electrified options more seriously?
