PGA Cars, the authorized distributor of Audi in the country, has just unveiled the all-new Q5 at the Manila Polo Club. We were in Singapore for the launch of the second-generation model last June, and we’re glad to finally have it here.
Measuring 4.66m long, 1.89m wide, 1.66m tall, and with a wheelbase of 2.82m, the new Q5 is bigger in every dimension. Extensive use of high tensile steel and aluminum, however, has reduced 90kg from the previous model, resulting in better efficiency, performance, and handling.
Appearance-wise, the most apparent change is the front end, with a flared Singleframe grille along with daytime running lights and LED headlights with dynamic turn signals. Other noticeable changes are the sharp yet seamless shoulder line, as well as doors that extend past the sills, which keep your pants clean from mud or rain spray. Apart from these, other enhancements to the Q5’s look are subtle, which is very Audi.
Thanks to larger exterior dimensions, the interior of the compact SUV is roomier, plus the rear bench is now adjustable fore and aft. Cargo space, meanwhile, has increased by 10L, with volume ranging from 550 to 610L, and 1,550L with the rear seats folded down.
Tech goodies include Audi’s trademark Virtual Cockpit 12.3-inch TFT display, MMI system with an 8.3-inch display and an integrated touchpad, and Audi smartphone interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Available for the Philippine market are the 2.0-liter TDI delivering 188hp and 400Nm, and the 2.0-liter TFSI with 248hp and 350Nm, both coupled to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. Each will have a Premium, Design, and S line variant. Quattro all-wheel drive with ultra technology comes standard.
Upon launch, estimated price for the TDI starts at P4.95 million and P5.05 million for the TFSI.
