As if the Q3 isn\'t small enough for a crossover SUV, Audi has confirmed that it will be making an even smaller one in the Q1.

\"The Q1 is part of our broad-based SUV strategy,\" said Audi board chairman Rupert Stadler. \"It is designed on the basis of the modular transverse engine concept and will round off our Q series at the bottom end.\"

To be produced at Audi\'s Ingolstadt plant in Germany from 2016, the German carmaker is eyeing the Q1 as being significant to the company\'s ongoing growth as it also strengthens its competitiveness internationally.

According to Audi, its SUVs accounted for 28% of the company\'s total production volume this year. By 2020, Audi expects the figure to go up to \"more than 35%.\" Overall, Audi has produced and delivered more than 1.5 million Q family models since the market launch of its first SUV--the Q7--in 2006.
