The 2024 Manila International Auto Show marks the public debut of BAIC’s return to the Philippines. In a bid to make a strong comeback, its new distributor United Asia Automotive Group (UAAGI) has rolled out five models.
BAIC Philippines’ new lineup consists of the X55 Verve, X7 Grandeza, B40 Ragnar, B60 Beaumont, and B80 Wagon. Of all those, it’s the B80 Wagon that’s caught our attention.

The BAIC B80 Wagon serves as the flagship model of the Philippine range. Not only that, it's also the brand's highest model worldwide. The first thing that will strike anyone is the look. If it reminds you of a certain boxy German SUV, then you're not the first to notice it, nor will you be the last.
But that aside, what's the deal about the B80 Wagon? It started out in life as a military vehicle and it's still used to this day by the Chinese military. The civilian version, which is what you see here now, was introduced in 2016 alongside the military version.
For the road-going versions, the B80 Wagon gets tarted up with luxuries. Chrome adorns the exterior while large alloy wheels play the part of it being a ride for VIPs, the market this SUV is aiming for. It’s the same stories inside with Nappa leather seats, acres of soft-touch materials, and wood and leather trimmings strewn throughout the cabin.
The Philippine version comes with five seats with the rear benches replaced by a pair of captain's chairs. The electronically adjustable perches can also recline up to 108 degrees for a more relaxing experience.
Interestingly, there's no diesel under the hood. Instead, it packs a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 gas engine that makes 276hp and 420Nm of torque. Part-time four-wheel drive is standard, along with various drive modes. Off-roaders will be pleased to know that it comes with a rear differential lock and a live rear axle.
Curious? The BAIC B80 Wagon starts at P4,398,000. It certainly makes an amusing first impression, and it will be interesting to see how it performs in the real world. You can also check out the price list of the full BAIC lineup below.
